Madeira Cockroach
Rhyparobia maderae
The Madeira cockroach is a large tropical roach maintained by museums, universities and specialist keepers. It has established populations in many warm regions, and captive colonies are adaptable and productive. Secure, ventilated housing needs shelters, varied food and access to moisture without a constantly saturated surface. Females retain their egg cases and release live young. Adults climb and may fly, so containment matters. It is larger than the lobster cockroach and should not be confused with it.
