Magnificent Tree Frog
Pelodryas splendida
The magnificent treefrog inhabits rocky gorges and caves in northwestern Australia and is kept by specialist amphibian hobbyists. Adults are large and green, often with pale speckles and conspicuous glands behind the head. Keepers provide tall enclosures with sturdy branches, rocky retreats, humid shelter, clean shallow water and varied insect prey. It lays eggs, with wet-season conditions important for breeding. Its adult head glands distinguish it from the more familiar White's treefrog.
