Malayan Pied Warted Tree Frog
Theloderma asperum
This small, warty treefrog was described from Peninsular Malaysia. Its black and pale markings resemble bird droppings, providing camouflage on branches. Specialist keepers use planted enclosures with water-filled retreats, clean water and small insect prey; it lays eggs associated with small pools. Names in the hobby need care: Vietnamese frogs formerly called this species can belong to the separate Theloderma albopunctatum. The current Malayan identity should not be inferred from an old import label.
