Malaysian Zebra-Stripe Cockroach
Dorylaea orini
The Malaysian zebra-stripe cockroach is maintained by specialist breeders as Orin's zebra roach. The familiar name Dorylaea orini is listed by the Species File as an unavailable temporary name, rather than a formally accepted species name. Colonies need consistently moist organic substrate, rotten wood or bark for egg laying, good ventilation and varied food.
Females lay egg cases. Its exceptionally long, delicate antennae and climbing ability make spacious, secure housing important. Nymphs have the familiar zebra pattern; adult females have full brown wings.
