Giant Vinegaroon (Mastigoproctus giganteus)
Mastigoproctus giganteus
This giant vinegaroon is restricted to Morelos, Mexico under the 2018 revision; US animals previously sold under its name belong to other species. It has heavy grasping palps, feeler-like front legs and a thin whip tail. It has no venom or stinger, but can spray irritating acetic acid. Specialist keepers provide secure, ventilated housing with deep burrowing substrate, shelter, drinking water and suitable insects. Avoid handling and eye exposure to the spray. Females lay eggs in a sac and care for their young.
