Maya Cockroach
Epilampra maya
The Maya cockroach is a waterside Epilampra maintained by specialist breeders. Adults and young shelter under rocks beside streams and can retreat into water when disturbed. Captive stock includes an introduced Florida population. Colonies can use a shallow waterside setup or very moist, well-aerated organic substrate without an open pool. Females retain their egg cases and release live young. Flying, climbing adults are fast, so any setup needs a secure lid and good ventilation.
