Mexican Pink Tarantula
Brachypelma klaasi
The Mexican pink tarantula is native to western Mexico, including Jalisco and Colima. Its black femurs contrast with pinkish hairs on the knees and lower legs; a dark carapace and red-haired abdomen complete the adult coloration. It is bred and kept by tarantula hobbyists as a terrestrial display animal.
House it singly with a secure hide, diggable substrate, water and little fall height. Avoid handling and contact with its irritating defensive hairs. Females produce a silk egg sac. International trade is regulated under CITES Appendix II.
