Nigerian Rust Leg Tarantula
Hysterocrates laticeps
The Nigerian rust leg tarantula is a long-used hobby name for a species currently recorded from Cameroon. Adults are brown, with darker chocolate-brown upper leg segments and relatively slender hind-leg shins. Similar Hysterocrates are sometimes mislabeled or crossed, so keep stock history with the scientific name. Experienced keepers provide a secure, ventilated enclosure with deep, moisture-retaining substrate, a retreat and water. Avoid handling. Females lay eggs in silk sacs.
