Northern Pig-Tailed Macaque
Macaca leonina
This mainland Southeast Asian macaque has a yellow-brown coat and a short tail. Adult males have pale cheek whiskers and a reddish streak beside each eye. It forages on the ground and climbs into forest trees, eating fruit and other foods. Zoos manage social groups with climbing structures, ground foraging and separation areas. Females bear live infants. It is distinct from the southern pig-tailed macaque. US primate-import restrictions apply.
