Nosy Pill Bug
Armadillidium nasatum
The nosy pill bug is an Armadillidium recognized by the small projecting plate at the front of its head. Adults are usually dark gray with pale lengthwise stripes, although captive color lines vary. It favors sheltered spots in relatively dry, sunny habitats and is often found around gardens and greenhouses.
Hobby colonies need leaf litter, a moist refuge and good ventilation. Females carry eggs and young beneath the body and release live offspring. When disturbed, it curls into an imperfect ball with its antennae still protruding.
