Orange-Legged Leaf Frog
Pithecopus hypochondrialis
This small South American leaf frog is kept by specialist amphibian hobbyists. Its green back contrasts with orange inner legs and dark bars that are partly hidden when it rests. Keepers provide ventilated planted enclosures with slender branches, broad leaves, clean water and small insect prey. Females lay eggs in leaves above water, and the tadpoles drop into the pools below. Its slim body and barred orange legs distinguish it from the much larger giant monkey frog.
