Sarawak Red Tiger Tarantula
Phormingochilus everetti
The Sarawak red tiger tarantula is a tree-dwelling species from Malaysian Borneo. Adult females have a dark body with purplish highlights, reddish hairs and coarse dark herringbone markings on the abdomen; mature males are browner and longer-legged. Similar Bornean tree tarantulas need anatomical identification. Experienced hobbyists provide a secure, ventilated vertical enclosure with bark retreats and drinking water. Avoid handling this fast spider. Females lay eggs in a silk sac.
