Aksai Black Pied
The Aksai Black Pied is a regional breed of domestic pig associated with Kazakhstan, especially the Aksai name used in former Soviet livestock breeding. It is described as a black-and-white pied, medium to large pig selected for meat and fat production rather than as a show breed. Like many regional pig populations, it developed from local stock improved with European commercial breeds, with selection aimed at hardiness, fertility, and usable carcasses under continental steppe farming conditions. Outside Central Asia it is uncommon, so names and registry treatment may vary in English-language sources.
Farm management is similar to that for other productive pigs, but the breed is valued where animals must cope with seasonal heat, cold, and locally available feeds. Secure pens, dry shelter, shade, wallows or cooling in hot weather, and balanced rations are still important; hardiness does not replace basic husbandry. Breeders preserving Aksai Black Pied pigs should keep source records, avoid casual crossing, and select for sound legs, functional teats, litter performance, and calm handling. Buyers may need to confirm that animals are true Aksai Black Pied rather than any black-pied crossbred pig.
