Australian Yorkshire
The Australian Yorkshire is the Australian expression of the Yorkshire, closely related to the Large White pig used throughout the world. Australian Yorkshires have been valued as commercial breeding animals, particularly for maternal lines and crossbreeding programs that need litter size, milk, growth, and carcass consistency. Their management is typical of high-production white pigs: reliable shade to prevent sunburn, sound flooring or pasture to protect feet, and careful feeding of sows through farrowing and lactation. In hot districts, heat stress can limit fertility and growth, making ventilation, water, and wallows important in outdoor systems. Buyers should compare performance data and health status rather than assuming all white pigs carry the same production value.
