Oxford Sandy And Black
The Oxford Sandy and Black is a rare British pig breed with a sandy, ginger, or gold base color broken by black patches. It has long carried the nickname Plum Pudding pig because of that mottled coat. Historically associated with Oxfordshire and nearby counties, it is an outdoor heritage breed with lop ears, good body length, and a traditional place in small-farm pork production.
Keepers often use Oxford Sandy and Blacks in active pasture or woodland-edge systems where foraging and mothering ability matter. They need shade, wallows, strong fencing, and dry sleeping quarters, especially because pale skin areas can be sensitive in sun. Breeding should maintain the characteristic color, sound legs, litter performance, and workable temperament without narrowing rare lines too far. Buyers should use recognized breeders when possible, since any sandy spotted pig is not automatically true Oxford Sandy and Black stock.
