Teacup Pig
Teacup pig is a marketing label, not a reliable breed. It is usually used for miniature, pot-bellied, or mixed small piglets sold with the promise that they will stay tiny. Many such pigs grow far larger than buyers expect, because even small pig breeds continue developing for years and adult size depends on genetics, nutrition, and honest breeding records.
Prospective owners should treat any teacup claim with caution and ask to see mature parents, not only piglets. These pigs still need legal livestock housing where required, secure fencing, social companionship, hoof and tusk care, veterinary access, and a diet that prevents both obesity and intentional underfeeding. Ethical breeders explain adult size and placement responsibilities clearly. Rescue groups often receive teacup pigs after owners discover they are real pigs, not pocket pets.
