Vietnamese Pot-Bellied
The Vietnamese pot-bellied pig is a small pig type from Vietnam that became widely known as a pet and zoo animal. It has a compact body, short legs, a sagging belly, and often a dark coat, though colors vary. The breed is much smaller than commercial pork pigs, but mature animals are still substantial livestock and may live for many years.
Pot-bellied pigs need outdoor space, secure fencing, shelter, companionship, and a controlled diet because they gain weight easily. They are intelligent and trainable, but they root, test barriers, and require hoof trimming, tusk management in males, and veterinary care from someone comfortable with pigs. Buyers should avoid claims that piglets will remain tiny. Adult size, temperament, and local ownership rules should be understood before bringing one home.
