Wuzishan
The Wuzishan pig is a small Chinese pig from Hainan, associated with the Wuzhi Mountain area. It is known as a miniature or small-bodied local breed and has been used in research as well as local agriculture. Its value comes from compact size, adaptation to island and tropical conditions, and the genetic interest of a distinct Chinese native pig.
Wuzishan pigs need management suited to small but active swine: secure fencing, shade, clean water, and feed measured to prevent excess fat. Research or conservation herds should track family lines carefully because small populations can lose diversity quickly. Buyers should not confuse Wuzishan with generic pet mini pigs. The breed has a specific geographic and genetic identity, and responsible stewardship means preserving that identity while maintaining health and fertility.
