Austrian White-Tail
The Austrian White-Tail is a fancy pigeon breed or marked variety associated with Austrian and Central European pigeon keeping. Its name points to the defining feature: a colored body combined with a white tail, a pattern that needs clean separation and careful color control. Birds of this type are generally kept for exhibition and breed preservation rather than racing or meat production.
In the loft, Austrian White-Tails need the same sound management as other fancy pigeons: dry housing, good ventilation, grit, clean bathing water, and protection from drafts and parasites. Breeding requires patience because tail color, body color, and general type must line up in the same bird. Fanciers should avoid selecting only for the white tail if it weakens fertility, posture, or feather condition. Clear records help track which pairings produce the cleanest pattern.
