Bihac Roller
The Bihac roller is a Balkan flying pigeon breed associated with Bihac, a city in northwestern Bosnia and Herzegovina. It belongs to the roller and tumbler tradition of domestic pigeons, where families were selected for aerial performance as well as local type. Birds are generally kept for kit flying, agile flight, and controlled rolling rather than for extreme feather ornaments. Color can vary widely in roller breeds, so identity is better judged by origin, family, flying style, and the traits recognized by regional fanciers.
Managing Bihac rollers is performance work. Young birds are usually settled to the loft carefully, trained in small groups, and fed so they fly keenly without becoming weak. Over-deep or uncontrolled rolling can be dangerous, so breeders keep notes on which pairs produce stable, frequent, recoverable rolls. A secure loft, predictable routines, and attention to predators are essential if the birds are flown outside. Outside the Balkans, accurate naming may depend on the honesty of the breeder and documented family history rather than a large international registry.
