Bohemian Trumpeter
The Bohemian Trumpeter is a Czech or Central European trumpeter pigeon, part of the fancy group selected for a resonant rolling call as well as show type. Trumpeter breeds vary in feathering and outline, but the voice is central to their identity. The Bohemian form is maintained as a regional breed with expectations for body, posture, feather condition, and sound quality.
Keepers should house Bohemian Trumpeters in a calm loft where their call and behavior can be assessed without constant disturbance. Breeding decisions may consider voice, posture, feather condition, fertility, and parenting ability together. Heavy muffs or crests, if present in a family, require dry floors and extra feather care. Buyers should learn from experienced fanciers and, when possible, hear adult birds rather than judging only by color or still photographs.
