Breslau Tumbler
The Breslau tumbler is an old Central European domestic pigeon breed named for Breslau, the Silesian city now known as Wroclaw in Poland. It belongs to the broad tumbler family of Columba livia, developed from birds that could fly actively and, in some lines, perform short rolls or turns. Modern Breslau tumblers are usually discussed as fancy and exhibition pigeons, with emphasis on a neat, balanced body, alert carriage, clean feather condition, and recognized color varieties such as blue, black, ash red, brown, grizzle, almond, checker and dilute patterns.
Loft care is conventional for show tumblers: dry ventilation, secure nest boxes, clean water, mineral grit, and a seed or pellet ration adjusted for breeding and molt. If a strain is still flown, young birds need patient loft training and a safe area away from wires and heavy predator pressure. Buyers should look for breeders who can explain whether their birds are selected mainly for the show pen, for flight, or for preserving a local Silesian type.
