Brunner Pouter
The Brunner pouter is a small, highly refined cropper pigeon from Moravia, centered on Brno in the Czech Republic. It is one of the most delicate-looking pouter breeds: long-legged, very upright, narrow through the body, and able to inflate a rounded globe of a crop that dominates its outline. Good birds give an impression of height, tension, and balance without looking coarse, and they are bred in many standard pigeon colors, from blue and black to red, yellow, grizzle and almond.
Brunner pouters are show birds that need a calm, dry loft with enough space for display and perches that protect their feet and feathers. Their slim build and inflated crop make handling gentler than with heavy utility pigeons, and breeding stock should be chosen for sound legs, normal feeding, fertility, and a crop that inflates symmetrically. During pairing and rearing, keepers watch body condition closely; overfeeding can spoil outline, while weak birds may struggle when feeding squabs.
