Budapest Muffed Tumbler
Budapest Muffed Tumbler is a feather-footed member of the Budapest tumbler family of domestic pigeons, all ultimately descended from Columba livia. The word muffed refers to the foot and lower-leg feathering, while tumbler connects it with the acrobatic flying breeds historically kept in central Europe. In present-day lofts it may be encountered as an exhibition bird, a marked variety, or a local flying strain, so exact head shape, amount of muff, and accepted colors can vary with the standard being used.
The muffs make housing more important than for clean-legged pigeons. Damp litter, sticky droppings, and narrow wire floors can break feathers or encourage parasites, so fanciers usually keep these birds on dry bedding with smooth perches and regular bathing. Pair selection should balance decorative feathering with sound legs, active behavior, and reliable parenting. If a buyer wants actual tumbling or kit flying, it is worth seeing relatives flown rather than judging only from a show pen.
