Cakal Roller
The Cakal roller is a lesser-known roller pigeon, a domestic Columba livia strain selected for aerial somersaulting. The name may appear in English as Cakal or Çakal, and published details are thinner than for Birmingham rollers or Oriental rollers. In practice, fanciers treat it as a performance bird first: a compact, alert pigeon expected to fly actively and show rolling or tumbling ability. Color varies by family, so sound body, wing strength, and inherited roll quality are more important than a single color recipe.
Prospective keepers should ask to see related birds fly, not just view loft photographs. Youngsters need gradual training, predator-aware release times, and feed adjusted so they are fit but not weak. As with any roller, birds that roll too deep or cannot recover safely should not be bred from. A dry loft, clean water, grit, and careful quarantine for new purchases cover the basics while performance selection does the real work.
