Chinese Flying Pigeon
The Chinese flying pigeon is an old domestic pigeon type associated with Chinese loft traditions rather than a single globally uniform exhibition breed. It is generally described as a flying pigeon, developed from Columba livia for loft performance, local orientation, and steady group flight. In Western breed lists the name can be used broadly, so size, head furnishings, beak length, and color may vary between imported, preserved, or locally maintained lines.
Care should be based on active pigeon management: a secure, well-ventilated loft, careful trap training, clean water, mineral grit, and exercise that is increased after the birds know their home. Breeders looking for Chinese flying pigeons should clarify the standard or strain being offered, because some birds are kept for traditional flight and others are maintained mainly as fancy stock. Sound wings, good orientation, and parent-rearing ability matter more than rare color labels.
