Colillano Cropper
The Colillano cropper is a Spanish-style cropper or pouter pigeon, one of the regional buchon breeds developed from domestic pigeons for inflated crop, carriage, and courtship display. The name is usually linked with Iberian fancy-pigeon culture rather than a widely familiar international show breed. Birds are expected to show a lively stance, a rounded but controlled crop, and a body shape that supports display without losing balance. As with many cropper families, markings and colors may be secondary to character, outline, and the way the bird presents itself in the loft or on the wing.
Care centers on giving these pigeons space to move and display safely. Deep feed hoppers and clean water reduce crop problems, while moderate feeding helps avoid birds becoming heavy or sluggish. Males can be assertive during breeding and courtship, so pairs and neighboring cocks are watched for harassment. In regions where traditional cropper flying is practiced, keepers also consider local rules, predator pressure, and humane handling of hens. Prospective buyers should ask which standard or club the strain follows, as Spanish cropper names can be used differently by communities.
