Crossbred
A crossbred pigeon is any pigeon produced from two or more breeds, strains, or varieties rather than from a single recognized standard. Crosses may be intentional, such as combining performance families, or accidental in a mixed loft. They can show almost any color, feathering, beak length, body type, or flight behavior depending on the parents.
Crossbred pigeons can be useful birds, but the label should be honest. A flyer may inherit stamina, rolling, or homing ability from one side and lose it in the next generation; a show cross may look attractive without breeding true. Keepers should evaluate health, fertility, temperament, orientation, and intended use rather than relying on a borrowed breed name. Recording parentage is especially helpful when a cross is part of a planned project.
