Czech Bagdad
The Czech Bagdad is a wattle or carrier-type pigeon developed in the Czech fancy tradition, related in general style to old Bagdad and carrier pigeons. It is selected for a strong head, pronounced beak and eye features, and a firm, alert body rather than for racing. The name may be translated or spelled differently, but the Czech context is important to its standard.
Czech Bagdads need loft care that protects their facial features and keeps them in firm show condition. Eye ceres and beak wattles should be clean and healthy, not irritated or overgrown. Breeders should balance head strength with fertility, sound breathing, and active movement. As with other wattle breeds, young birds develop over time, so patient evaluation and accurate age records help fanciers avoid culling or selecting too early.
