Dragoon
The Dragoon is an old British fancy pigeon descended from carrier and homer-type stock, with a strong head, noticeable beak wattle, and alert, compact body. It was once associated with message-carrying ancestry but is now primarily an exhibition breed. Compared with the English Carrier, the Dragoon is generally more moderate, active-looking, and less extreme in facial development.
Dragoon keepers should maintain a dry, well-ventilated loft and pay attention to the health of the beak and eye ceres. Breeding decisions usually focus on head strength, beak shape, body station, feather quality, and color, while still protecting fertility and good parenting. Young birds develop facial character over time, so they should not be judged too hastily. A balanced Dragoon should look powerful without appearing coarse or burdened by excessive wattle.
