Dutch Cropper
The Dutch Cropper is a cropper pigeon associated with the Netherlands, selected for an inflated crop, upright posture, and lively courtship display. Dutch and neighboring Low Country fanciers developed several pouter and cropper types, so this breed should be understood through its own standard rather than as a generic pouter. Good birds combine globe, stance, body length, and feather quality without looking unstable.
Cropper care requires space for display and secure perches that suit tall birds. Breeders should watch mating ability, breathing, and feeding behavior, because excessive crop size can create practical problems. A clean, dry loft, regular bathing, and moderate diet help keep birds active and well feathered. Selection should reward a natural, controlled globe and sound legs. Buyers should observe birds moving, not only standing inflated in a show pose.
