Dutch Highflier
The Dutch Highflier is a high-flying pigeon breed from the Netherlands, kept for endurance, height, and control above the loft. The spelling highflier is often used interchangeably with highflyer, but individual clubs may treat names or standards differently. Birds may appear in blue bar, checker, red checker, white, and other colors, while performance and type remain the main points of interest.
A Dutch Highflier loft should be managed around fitness. Birds need routine exercise, measured feeding, clean water, and safe release weather. Breeders should select for orientation, strong wings, stamina, and the willingness to trap after long flights. If maintained as show birds, type and color also matter, but high-flying identity depends on actual flight testing. Buyers should ask whether a line is still flown or kept mainly for exhibition.
