English Long-Faced Tumbler
The English Long-Faced Tumbler is a British tumbler breed distinguished from short-faced varieties by its longer beak and head proportions. It belongs to the old tumbler family, but modern birds are often exhibition pigeons selected for clean outline, color, markings, and breed type. The longer face generally makes it a more practical feeder than very short-faced fancy breeds.
Care is straightforward, though show lines still need careful conditioning. English Long-Faced Tumblers require a clean loft, bathing water, good ventilation, and protection from overcrowding that damages feathers. Breeders should maintain head type, body balance, color, fertility, and sound parenting. If a line is flown, safe tumbling and orientation should be evaluated. Buyers should distinguish long-faced birds from short-faced tumblers, since the two are judged and bred differently.
