Flying Oriental Roller
The Flying Oriental Roller is the performance form of the Oriental Roller, a breed family associated with the eastern Mediterranean and Near Eastern pigeon traditions. Unlike show Oriental Rollers bred mainly for appearance, flying lines are valued for rolling style, agility, and control in the air. The birds may still have recognizable type, but flight ability is the reason for the label.
Flying Oriental Rollers require careful training and selection. Young birds should be settled thoroughly, flown in suitable weather, and watched for safe rolling rather than dangerous depth or loss of control. Breeders should keep families that return reliably, perform consistently, and remain strong enough to rear young. Feed, rest, and predator awareness all affect results. Buyers should ask to see related birds fly, because show ancestry alone does not prove performance.
