Franconian Toy Self
The Franconian Toy Self is a small German toy pigeon variety from the Franconian fancy, with self meaning a solid, even body color rather than a pied or marked pattern. Toy pigeons are selected for neat scale, tidy carriage, and show presence in a compact bird. The breed's identity is therefore different from tumblers, highflyers, or croppers: it is a color and type pigeon for the exhibition loft.
Good management is straightforward but precise. Small pigeons need secure nest compartments, feed they can handle easily, clean water, grit, and protection from bullying by larger breeds. Breeders compare youngsters for even color, body balance, feather texture, and vigor after the molt. Because self varieties can reveal every pale feather or smutty patch, patient color selection matters more than producing unusual shades.
