French Highflyer
The French highflyer is a domestic pigeon breed or strain grouped with high-flying pigeons rather than racing homers or rollers. Highflyers are valued for rising above the home loft, maintaining altitude, and staying loyal to a settled base. A keeper who wants the highflyer side should train young birds gradually from a secure loft, in calm weather, and with attention to hawks, wires, and overflying. Feed is adjusted so birds are fit without becoming heavy. Show-only lines still need room to exercise, but performance should be verified before purchase. Breeding notes are useful because altitude, stamina, and reliable trapping are family traits that can fade when no one tests them.
