French Owl Pigeon
The French owl pigeon is a small fancy pigeon in the owl and frill tradition, selected for a short beak, rounded head, compact body, and a neat breast frill. Owl pigeons are named for facial expression, not for behavior, and they differ clearly from highflyers, croppers, and homers. French lines may share ancestry or appearance with other continental owl breeds while following their own standard.
Short-beaked pigeons need attentive breeding management. Adults should be able to eat easily, court normally, and feed squabs; if a line struggles, fanciers may use foster pairs or avoid breeding from the most extreme birds. Clean water, small grains, grit, and dry nesting help maintain condition. Show selection focuses on frill, head, beak, eye, and body balance, but health and parental ability should stay in the breeding decision.
