Frillback
The Frillback is a structure pigeon recognized by curled or reversed feathers, especially across the wing shields, with smaller curls often visible on the body and sometimes the foot feather. It is a domestic pigeon, Columba livia, bred for feather form rather than flight, crop inflation, or homing. Good birds combine the frilled feather character with a solid body, even curls, and colors that may include white, black, red, yellow, blue, silver, and patterned forms.
Frillbacks need loft management that protects feather condition. Damp floors, rough wire, crowded nest boxes, and excessive handling can break curls or stain pale birds before a show. Bathing, dry bedding, parasite control, and adequate protein during molt are useful. Breeders should avoid focusing only on curl depth; fertility, parental ability, straight keel, and normal movement keep the breed practical as well as ornamental.
