Georgian Red-Tailed
The Georgian red-tailed pigeon is one of the Georgian tail-marked domestic pigeon varieties, recognized by red tail feathers combined with the body color and type expected in the regional standard. It is a fancy pigeon, not a separate wild species, and its distinction from black-tailed, yellow-tailed, or white-tailed Georgian forms rests mainly on the required tail color and associated markings.
Red-tailed varieties call for patient color breeding. The tail should be clear enough to read as red after the molt, while stray colored feathers or washed-out tones may reduce show value. Clean housing, smooth perches, and regular baths help preserve the tail before judging. Because small regional breeds can be hard to replace, fanciers should keep enough breeding pairs to avoid selecting only for color while losing body strength, fertility, or calm parenting.
