German Barb
The German Barb is a wattle pigeon in the old Barb tradition, developed as a fancy breed with a short face, rounded head, broad beak setting, and visible eye cere. It is related by type to other European Barb and carrier-style pigeons but follows German show expectations. The breed is kept for head character and compact form, not for racing, high flying, or meat production.
Care should support both health and the refined head points. The beak, nostrils, and eye cere need to stay clean and functional, since excessive tissue or poor condition can affect comfort. Small or short-faced pigeons may also need attention during breeding if chick feeding is weak. Breeders should balance head features with fertility, body strength, feather quality, and steady temperament. Buyers should ask which standard is being followed and whether the line raises its own young reliably.
