German Beak-Crested Trumpeter
The German Beak-Crested Trumpeter is a trumpeter pigeon recognized by a front crest or feather rise near the beak, along with the voice and body type expected of the trumpeter group. It is part of the German tradition of highly specified pigeon breeds, where crest placement, feather condition, color, and call may all be judged. The beak crest separates it from plainer trumpeters and from double-crested forms.
These pigeons need calm housing so their call, courtship, and feather ornaments can develop without constant disturbance. The front crest should be kept clean and should not interfere with eating or eye health. Breeding pairs are selected for voice, crest shape, body balance, fertility, and good parental care. If foot feather is present in a line, dry floors and wide perches become especially important before shows.
