German Colour-Tail Owl Pigeon
The German Colour-Tail Owl pigeon is an owl-type fancy pigeon marked by a colored tail set against the body pattern required by the German standard. It carries the owl group's short beak, rounded head impression, compact body, and breast frill, while the tail marking gives the variety its separate identity. The breed is ornamental and exhibition-focused rather than a flying or utility pigeon.
Short-faced owl pigeons need attentive but calm management. Feeders should suit the beak, and breeding pairs should be watched to make sure squabs are fed well. The colored tail must be kept clean and unbroken, so dry floors and smooth perches matter. Breeders select for frill, head, eye, tail color, body balance, and vigor together. If a bird has a fine tail but poor fertility or weak feeding, it should not carry the breeding program.
