German Long-Faced Tumbler
The German long-faced tumbler is a tumbler pigeon selected for a longer head and beak than the short-faced exhibition forms. It sits within the German tumbler tradition, where local varieties were once tied to active flight but many modern lines are maintained mainly for type, color, and show pen balance. The longer face often gives the bird a more functional beak and a less compressed skull.
These pigeons are usually easier to breed and feed than extreme short-faced tumblers, but quality still depends on selection. A dry loft, exercise space, bathing water, and ordinary grain and grit management suit them well. Breeders compare head length, body neatness, eye placement, feather condition, and any remaining flying behavior. Anyone wanting actual tumbling should ask whether the family has been flown, since exhibition selection can preserve the name while reducing performance.
