German Nun
The German Nun is a color pigeon recognized by the nun pattern: a mostly white bird with colored head, bib or neck area, tail, and flights as required by the standard. Many lines carry a shell crest, giving the head a hooded look that helps explain the name. It is a domestic fancy pigeon, separate from tumblers or homers, though related European nun breeds can be easy to confuse at first glance.
Nun pigeons reward patient marking selection. White body areas must stay clean, and colored flights and tail feathers should be placed correctly after the molt. Breeders choose for pattern, crest shape, body balance, bright condition, and reliable parenting. Housing does not need to be elaborate, but dry litter, regular baths, and calm handling before shows make a large difference. Buyers should compare both sides of the bird, since one good viewing angle can hide color faults.
