Giant Homer
The Giant Homer is a large homer-type pigeon developed from homing pigeon ancestry but selected for size, body strength, and exhibition or utility value rather than timed racing. It keeps the general impression of a homer, with a strong body, clean feathering, and a purposeful head, while carrying more mass than a working racing pigeon. Color is secondary to structure and condition.
Management should account for both size and homer temperament. Birds need room to exercise, broad nest spaces, grit, clean water, and a ration that keeps them firm rather than overweight. Breeders select for fertility, sound legs, good wing carriage, and parents that feed large squabs reliably. Anyone expecting race performance should buy racing homers instead; Giant Homers are best evaluated as large exhibition or utility pigeons with homer ancestry.
