Goeteborg Tumbler
The Goeteborg tumbler, often written Göteborg tumbler when Swedish spelling is retained, is a Scandinavian domestic pigeon associated with the city of Gothenburg. It belongs to the tumbler family, where earlier selection favored active flight and turning behavior, though modern birds may be kept largely for exhibition. The breed's identity rests on regional type, carriage, head and beak character, and the standard used by Nordic fanciers.
Keepers should ask whether a family is still flown or maintained only as a show tumbler. Flying birds need gradual settling, safe release times, and selection for controlled action rather than unsafe rolling. Show lines need dry lofts, exercise, bathing water, and careful pairing for type and color. Because Swedish regional tumblers can be uncommon elsewhere, source history and comparison with club material are useful before importing or breeding.
