Granadino Pouter
The Granadino Pouter is a Spanish buchón breed associated with Granada in Andalusia. It is a fancy domestic pigeon selected for an inflated crop, body carriage, and a local style of display, not for racing or meat production. Like other Spanish pouters, it may carry traditions of controlled flying and courtship behavior as well as exhibition judging, depending on the family.
A Granadino loft should provide space for courtship, clean nest areas, and protection from hazards that can damage the crop or tail. Birds should be kept fit rather than heavy, with feed adjusted to breeding or flying activity. Breeders compare crop placement, head, beak, stance, wing carriage, temperament, and parental ability. Before buying, it is wise to ask whether the birds are bred to a show standard, a working buchón tradition, or a local blend of both.
