Gumbinnen White-Head Tumbler
The Gumbinnen White-Head Tumbler is an East Prussian tumbler breed named for Gumbinnen, now Gusev in the Kaliningrad region. Its defining feature is a white head combined with the body type and markings expected of a tumbler. Like many old regional pigeons, it carries a geographic name from a historical European pigeon center, and modern standards may preserve that name even after borders changed.
Breeders work with both marking and type. The white head should be clean and correctly bounded, while the bird still needs a balanced body, alert carriage, good feather, and reliable breeding. Flying ability may vary by line, so anyone seeking performance should ask whether young birds are tested. Dry housing, bathing water, and calm handling help keep pale head feathers presentable. Rare regional tumblers also benefit from careful exchanges among fanciers.
