Hana Pouter
The Hana Pouter is a Czech pouter from the Haná region of Moravia, part of the Central European cropper and pouter tradition. It is selected for an inflated crop, upright carriage, refined outline, and the regional type fixed by Czech fanciers. The breed differs from Brunner, English, and other pouters even though they share the same basic crop-display feature.
Hana Pouters need room to stand, inflate, and court without damaging the crop or tail. Clean dry floors and stable nest boxes help active pairs breed safely. Breeders select for globe shape, stance, leg and body proportions, feather condition, fertility, and calm handling. As with other pouters, an exaggerated crop is useful only if the bird can eat, breathe, mate, and feed squabs normally. Buyers should compare birds to Czech or club standards.
