Hungarian Cropper
The Hungarian Cropper is a pouter-type pigeon from the Hungarian fancy, selected for an inflated crop, upright carriage, and regional body style. It belongs with the Central European cropper breeds rather than with Hungarian highflyers or giant utility pigeons. Accepted colors, leg details, and size can vary by standard, but the crop and balanced display remain central.
Hungarian Croppers need space to show and breed safely. The crop should inflate freely without interfering with breathing, eating, mating, or squab feeding. Smooth loft fittings, stable nest boxes, and dry bedding reduce injury. Breeders select for crop shape, posture, vigor, fertility, and calm handling, not only for the most dramatic globe. Conditioning should leave birds active and light enough to display well.
